In order to improve the quality and properties of advanced ceramics, it is essential to improve their manufacturing processes and develop innovative processes. In particular, since most manufacturing processes for advanced ceramics use powders as starting materials, research and development on powder processing is a key technology for solving these issues. On November 20-21, 2019, the Society of Powder Technology, Japan, held 1st Intenational Symposium on Powder Processing Technology for Advanced Ceramics at the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics in Shanghai, China, with support from Hosokawa Powder Technology Foundation. We had an active and fruitful discussion on the science and technology of powder processing for advanced ceramics. With a view to further developing this, we have decided to hold the second symposium as follows. The objective of this symposium is to provide lectures and discussions focusing on the international R&D trends in powder science and technology for advanced ceramics.
